Care Guide

Every Tavomiri dress is designed to look its best when cared for properly. Because our collection includes different fabrics, prints, and construction details, the most reliable care instructions for any specific piece are always the ones listed on that product's page and on the sewn-in care label. This guide covers common situations across our dresses and helps you know what to check before you wash, dry, or store a piece.

Check the Care Label and Product Page First

Before laundering any Tavomiri garment, look at two sources: the care label sewn inside the dress and the care notes in the product description on our website. These take priority over any general guidance on this page. If the two disagree, follow the care label.

Our dresses range from lightweight woven fabrics with lace trim and ruffle detailing to denim and satin-look gowns. Each type has different needs, so there is no single method that fits the entire collection.

Washing: What We Know from Specific Products

Several of our boho-style dresses with lace trim, paisley prints, patchwork patterns, and ruffled sleeves list the following on their product pages:

  • Hand wash cold, or use a gentle machine cycle inside a mesh laundry bag.
  • Hang to dry.

Our denim swing dresses list a different routine: machine wash cold with like colors, tumble dry low, and warm iron if needed.

These instructions come from the individual product descriptions. They do not automatically apply to every dress in the store. Always confirm on the page for the exact item you purchased.

Protecting Prints, Lace, and Embellished Details

Several of our dresses feature delicate elements that benefit from extra attention during washing:

  • Lace trim and inserts: Turn the garment inside out and use a mesh laundry bag to reduce snagging against zippers or rough surfaces in the drum.
  • Paisley and patchwork prints: Avoid soaking for extended periods. Wash with similar colors to reduce the risk of dye transfer, especially on darker shades like burgundy and black.
  • Elastic cuffs and ruffled hems: Do not wring or twist these areas. Gently press out excess water instead.
  • Covered buttons and braided trim: Fasten buttons before washing to prevent them from pulling or loosening during agitation.

Drying and Pressing

For dresses whose product pages recommend hang drying, choose a padded hanger or lay flat on a drying rack away from direct sunlight. Hanging a wet knit or lightweight woven fabric by thin straps can stretch the shoulder area over time.

For denim pieces that allow tumble drying on low, remove the garment promptly to minimize creasing. If pressing is needed, use a warm iron setting and avoid direct contact with prints or lace.

Do not apply heat or steam to areas where the care label does not confirm it is safe.

Storing Between Wears

Keep dresses in a cool, dry space with enough room that they are not compressed against each other. For pieces with structured bodices, cape panels, or satin-like finishes, hanging on a padded hanger helps maintain shape and reduces pressure marks.

Avoid storing garments in plastic bags for long periods, as trapped moisture can affect both fabric and color. If you need to protect a dress from dust, use a breathable garment cover.

When to Stop and Ask for Help

If you encounter a stain you cannot identify, a color that appears to be bleeding, or a delicate section like lace or a satin-look surface that you are unsure how to treat, pause before applying any solvent or heat. A cautious spot test on an inconspicuous area is reasonable, but it does not guarantee that treating the entire garment will be safe.

For items with complex construction such as cape panels, open-back cutouts, or layered tiers, professional cleaning may be the safer choice. We do not recommend attempting repairs on structural seams or embellishments at home.
